Instruments?
Anyone here play an instrument? I know a lot of you play guitar (though I didn't see any basses...hmm) from the picture thread but any others?
Personally I can play a few.
Guitar (I play this the most)
French Horn (played this in school cause they needed one and I volunteered...fun fun )
Trumpet (played this before switching to the Horn)
Recorder (lol, these are fun to just screw around with. I can play Mary Had a Little Lamb, yah, that's right.)
Piano (I don't really 'play' the piano but I can read the music and crank out a tune whenever one is around.)
Anyone else?

I would go with the flute. Has more uh...range.
Nice bass, did you build it yourself or did you have someone put it together for you?

I built it with my father many years ago. He owned a music shop (Markel Guitar Co.) that I used to work at.

Nice, I've been wanting to build a guitar but wouldn't know where to start.
Luckily, I have a friend that did build his own that wouldn't mind sharing his 'expertise'.

My voice is my instrument. I used to sing opera when I was younger.. I haven't much lately though. I hope to make my voice strong again someday...
I used to play drums a bit.. Not really anymore.
What I WANT to learn is... Piano, Violin, Harp, and the Cello.

I play the Tenor Sax.
I love playing jazz. Hopefully once I'm out of school I'll still play in some kind of a small ensemble... (Did I post that somewhere already?)
I have a pretty good understanding of FruityLoops also, and if you know what that is then you are awesome.

I played the recorder first (started that at primary school). One day the teacher gave me a massive one, think it was a tenor so from then on I played that.
Started clarinet in primary school too, got to grade three on that.
Took up the keyboard, taught myself.
Playing the keyboard is different to playing the piano. With your left hand you tend to play 3-4 note chords that changes the tune of the electronical beat from the keyboard.
With a piano you play melody with your left hand as well as your right. There are some pieces I can play like this like Enya's "Watermark".
I sing as well. My voice has had no training and by no means do I have natural talent. If the song's the right song I would say maybe, but I can't sing ALL songs.
I need training to control my breathing to transition better between notes and voices (I have a few voices I can sing in.. high ones and low ones.)
I've started moving towards light opera songs more now. Sort of, easy listening opera (Phantom of the Opera songs mostly). I was told by the lady who assessed me for my gym admitance that I have the lungs of someone who's over 6 foot tall, so I have a powerful voice lol.
This is best demonstrated when I yell and I've been able to make glass quiver before now (no breaking yet )
Don't worry, I won't demonstrate it I do better singing songs like Disney and film songs rather than pop songs. My voice is a little like Jodi Benson's (Little Mermaid/Thumbelina) but a bit deeper and nowhere near as good :P
Someone pay for me to have lessons

I've been playing Guitar for 15 years now.
I've recently been playing Mandolin for about 1 year
I also play Uke, Banjo, Dulcimer and Uke-Banjo.
Anything with strings I love to play. My main Electric guitar is an older Ibanez 540RS Ltd. looks like this http://www.satriani.com/2004/gear/ I also have a Ovation Celebrity acoustic, which I play almost everyday. If you've ever wanted to learn an instrument but haven't found the time, make time, it will be one of the most rewarding things you've ever done, besides play Guild Wars

Ah I wish I could sing. I like to sing, just can't do it well. Oh well.
I'd like to learn to play Harp some day as well, never had the desire for violin or anything like that though.
Just figure a harp can't be too much harder than a guitar and it sounds good when played well (but I guess that could be said about any instrument...just harps sound really melodious).

Designer 1: "Okay, we need a new insturment.. I GOT IT! How about a double base style neck in 32 with no body and 12 strings?"
Designer 2: "Hmm, you know thats a great idea! Should we make it fretless?"
Desginer1: "Naw, it's hard enough to play as it is."
Stick bass, in my opinion, THE hardist lookin' insturment to play. I can handle a fretless, and I can handle a 12, but that just looks impossible for me to play. If anyone here can play that sucker, you got my respect.

I played flute when younger, but premature arthritis put the kabosh on that. I trained as a mezzo but have sung tenor when my choral director panicked. For those who don't know what a mezzo-soprano is, think Amy Lee from Evanescence.
I recently tried to impress my kids with hitting the original Christine's high descant in the titled song from Phantom and strained my pipes, alas... so much for showing off... I did pretty well 'til that point! I love that the new Christine from the movie is also a mezzo, makes things soooooo much easier for me
